I WISH I KNEW THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW
At the Rastrapati Bhavan Daisy received a standing ovation when her name was called over the mic to receive the Bravery Award from The President's hands. Daisy, now fifteen, walked majestically to receive the Award upon saving a three-year-old child by holding her hair tight and dragging her to the bank in her village while swimming in the same river where she lost her little brother ten years ago.
In no time, the past flashed before her eyes.
Dodo climbed down the steps, and as he was about to bend down to pick some water with his tiny hands, his right foot slipped, and he fell into the water, not knowing how to reach shore because he didn't know how to swim. He started shouting Didi,......Didi.,. Daisy, hearing his little brother's sweet voice, hurried to the river . She was shocked to see her brother drowning . She also had no idea how to swim. So she began screaming for help, looking at her little brother helplessly
It took some time for her to get help because no one was nearby and they were a bit farther away. Her brother had breathed his last, by the time he was pulled out from the water. Daisy remained motionless, staring at his younger brother.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the media, who approached her after the award ceremony for an interview.
Daisy said with her tears rolling down on her cheeks,
' I WISH I KNEW THEN ,WHAT I KNOW NOW.'
